A Profile of Wellbeing in Ontario: The North Region

As the smallest part of the population living in the largest land area of the province, residents of the North region of Ontario face a number of unique challenges. The population is older with the highest percentage of people 50 years of age or older and one of the lowest percentages of children and youth. People in the North region have one of the lowest after-tax median incomes in the province as well as the lowest level of employment and the highest level of unemployment.
